if the window didn't exist then the big clubs wouldn't need as many players as they currently have because they would be able to buy if an injury crisis hit in October

Every club would buy if they could, but no club wants to sell a player of any merit with limited time to get a replacement.
I know we’re all pissed off at Everton for lack of activity but barely anything has been done in this window for the best part of a decade.
I think they could do a lot worse than making it an 8 week window as then clubs might be prepared to do business.
