I've been a few times, the marina is very picturesque but I found it a bit dull to be honest. Not much going on at night and the restaurants and bars all seem to be much of a muchness (apart from the Jazz Bar which I really liked, don't know if that's still there). We stayed at the Volcan about 10 years ago, was very nice but no plans to go back, it's not particularly family-orientated.

I suppose if you are more bothered about daytime stuff and found the right hotel, it would be fine. We have also stayed in a villa but it's good to go somewhere that can keep the kids entertained.

Puerto del Carmen or Costa Teguise may be worth considering - Galeon Playa is slap bang in the centre of CT, overlooking Las Cucharas beach, great entertainments team - loads of kids activities and good value for money. Loads of really good restaurants in the area, or Los Zocos at a slightly higher price point is worth a look.

PDC has more going on generally but not to everyone's taste.
