To me, the philosophy is pretty simple - nobody has the right to take somebody else's life.
There are cases where it may be necessary (self defence, to prevent greater carnage) but fundamentally it is wrong and the reason I don't agree with the death penalty.
Obviously this is an absolute outrage, a horrible hate-fuelled crime but you're right to highlight the disparity with which the media covers antisemitic violence compared with the daily butchery of innocents in Gaza.
Telling that the initial comments from the Aussie PM are to call for greater gun control. When this shit happens in the States, the reaction is the polar opposite.

... and a 70 year old woman out shopping are amongst hundreds killed by the Israeli Defence Force in Gaza since the so called ceasefire came in. But hundreds or thousands of Palestinians being slaughtered is of little interest to Western media and the political class.
