down to the player's ability and how much the way the team plays. Yes, Beto looks clumsy at times, yes, Barry has missed a few sitters but I think most strikers, certainly those of the calibre that are within our reach, would struggle. Hopefully that is starting to change. I think it's worth persisting with Barry, it might not ever really work out but there's a chance it does and don't think he should be written off until he's had a proper run. A few months while he's still acclimatising is not really a fair period of time over which to make a judgement.
The way the modern game is, there really aren't bucketloads of top quality goalscorers on the market. Just look at the best sides in the PL.
Arsenal - Gyokeres, yet to prove himself at this level
City - Haaland
Villa - Watkins - good player but has his lean spells
LFC - Salah, this season's iteration has been wank
Chelsea - Joao Pedro - not exactly elite level
Newcastle - Woltemade, done OK so far but nothing special really
Spurs - Richarlison has been their best, not even really a striker and opinions on whether we would have him back are mixed.
Bournemouth - Evanilson. Meh.
Palace - Mateta has been fantastic this season but overall is he that great? Not on the evidence of his previous Palace career.
There may be some brilliant strikers in Europe who we are missing out on, but I don't know who they are.
