He then steered us through the point deductions season when the ownership had seemingly given up.
We had an owner wanting to sell and an interim board. He was the face of the club and held it all together.
Would I want him as the manager long term, no. Would I want to go for a pint with him, no. Is he one one of the most important figures of 21st century Everton Football Club, yes.
Deserves a good reception today and I think he will get one.
