whilst he may not be as good as Gana at stealing the ball back, if the ball is with him on the edge of our box, you feel a lot more comfortable that nothing bad is going to happen - he can either carry it upfield or find the right pass to play. I think you get more from him playing further back.

Chelsea friend of mine said that was his best position but Chelsea kept doing what we’ve been doing and playing him further forward. I thought he was excellent making deeper runs and getting more of a grip on the game tonight than when he plays behind the forward.

Alcaraz is decent enough while we figure the rest out but I’d ideally like to see one of Ndiaye / Grealish in that ‘10’ position (the other on the left) and then you’re looking for Dibling to push for a place on the right (altho I think that might be a season or so away tbf).

Tim was as good tonight as he was bad on Saturday. Excellent response. Thought the back four looked solid, as well.

We all know it but two full backs and a forward transforms this side. It’s a good basis for a team - just a few short.
