I'm a huge fan of Idrissa. I was gutted when he left for PSG and delighted when he re-signed for us.

Unlike some others, I don't think he's struggling at this level yet, but I actually do hope that we can begin to phase his involvement out over the next few months so that he's more of a bench option to sure things up in the latter stages of matches, if necessary.

Even the most hardcore of his fans will have to admit that even at his peak performance, he's still a bit of a liability in his passing and retention than we'd like, and with this new look Everton, with decent technical ball players like Grealish, Ndiaye and so on in our midfield, Gueye's sometimes sloppy passing is beginning to be a bit of a problem, particularly when we trying to stamp some sort of midfield authority on a game.

Either way, we'll see how the team shapes up over December and January in his AFCON absence.

A cracking player in many aspects of the game, but I hope we can begin to move in a different direction and prioritise better ball players in the middle of the park.
