I found it telling that our allies included the Ustashe successor state under the openly fascist Tudjman, his equally repulsive (and proudly antisemitic) sidekick Izetbegovich's Bosniak Social republic and the appalling savages of Thachiite Kosovo. I suspect, in my conspiratorial way, that the entire business was both an exemplary assault on an outpost of the relict post-collapse socialist international and a proving ground for the uses of weaponised propaganda (its also the reason I find the ICJ beneath contempt, the trial - and peculiar demise - of Milosevic would have shamed Freisler.)

As for Gaza, if they'd found a suitably skinny Gazan s/he's have been on the front page of every establishment outlet without exception. I'm actually amazed that there isn't an "iconic" face of Gazan starvation.
