When respondents to be interviewed were selected at random, every adult had an equal probability of falling into the sample. The typical sample size for a Gallup poll, either a traditional stand-alone poll or one night's interviewing from Gallup's Daily tracking, was 1,000 national adults, generating a margin of error of ±4 percentage points. Gallup's Daily tracking process allowed Gallup analysts to aggregate larger groups of interviews for more detailed subgroup analysis, but the accuracy of the estimates derived only marginally improved with larger sample sizesquote]
Here's the report (in Italian). The 'Poll' is on P.5
SWG Report
Tbh, it seems pretty flawed. Their heading is:
" We list some news items relating to the conflict between Israel and Hamas, which
involved private citizens. We ask you whether or not you consider them justifiable. "
No indication of what they showed them.
So they were shown news reports of stories, then were asked if they found it either:
1. "fairly or completely justifiable" or
2. "slightly or not at all justifiable" .
Then supposedly based on the responses they decide whether or not people support 'aggression/attacks' against people of jewish heritage.
However, if you look in the poll, they constantly switch between 'jewish heritage/origin' and Israeli's.
So, not 15% of Italians but 15% of a sample of 800...out of a population of just under 60 million and that based on dubious input.
That's not denying there is anti-Israel sentiment or even antisemitism out there but I bet you could find a similar proportion of numbskulls in many countries.
This comes against a series of Palestine/Gaza related nationwide protests and strikes last week where tensions are high. So, it doesn't surprise me that someone might commission this sort of thing.
However, I'll leave you to make your own mind up about it.
