I bought a signed copy of Alan Shepard's book "Moon Shot" in the NASA shop; I wondered at the time whether the higher price ($30 in 1995) was justified, but decided that it was probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get such an item. It was only a couple of years later that I fully appreciated that a book that I held and owned had also, when Shepard signed it, been touched by a man who had walked on the moon
