When I was about 14 or 15 I read that, and I didn't see the Godfather films for about 5 years after that. I loved that book.
If you haven't seen it, I really recommend The Offer, a TV drama from the wonderful Michael Tolkin (who wrote The Player) about the making of the first Godfather movie. Patrick Gallo does a great job as Puzo, and Matthew Goode steals the show as Richard Evans (of The Kid Stays in the Picture fame).
Here ends my morning's detour through Hollywood nostalgia.

…the book and was really surprised when it was announced (in the old Photoplay move mag, I was a subscriber in my mid teens) that she’d been cast.
A wonderful comic actress, who could also do the serious stuff.

mentioned her role in Looking For Mr. Goodbar. I think it was her best ever performance and if I remember correctly, introduced a young Richard Gere. She was great in Annie Hall too of course but the rest of her movies were flimsy stuff.
