at least the finding a striker bit.
Lets look a the last 30 years (for no particular reason), so thats 1995. While in that time we have had a few who get into this side, how many have been genuinely good strikers....like might get you in to Europe strikers?
Richarlison, Lukaku, Campbell Thats basically it, others had flashes, but no consistency. Thats in 30 years!
Im not sure how hard it would be to find better than that we have....although seemingly hard enough, but to find someone actually good....again the odds speak for themselves.

You can take any mid-table team, or even a relegation-team and make it top 6 overnight. You just add a good striker that score goals. Forest did just that and it worked. Even we did it second half of last season.
If we had Lukaku or similar now, we would be right up there. Goals brings confidence, and that makes the whole team play way better. Being in the lead during a match is so different to being behind, it's scarey.
Our strikers are almost vaccinated from scoring most of the time. All (!) we need to do is find a proper striker. Rest of the team is fine. We could either try to convince Beto that it's last season, or buy someone who is actually any good. Neither Barry nor Beto seems to be the answer. Until then, we'll be mid-table I agree.

Mid-table mediocrity writ large. On course for 13th and around 50 pts.
