...watching the U21 tournament in the summer, there was one stand out striker for me, and that was Woltemade. All sorts of stories about him not being available because Bayern were in for him etc. but the fact that he ended up at Newcastle does annoy me a bit, although they're cash rich now and easily managed that transaction. Can't see how we'd ever have pulled that deal off.
I'm not saying that Barry won't cut it for us (although from the early signs, I'll be honest, I'm not optimistic), but Woltemade is streets ahead of him in terms of his all-round game. We'd be a very different proposition this season with him in the team.
Ah well.

You can take any mid-table team, or even a relegation-team and make it top 6 overnight. You just add a good striker that score goals. Forest did just that and it worked. Even we did it second half of last season.
If we had Lukaku or similar now, we would be right up there. Goals brings confidence, and that makes the whole team play way better. Being in the lead during a match is so different to being behind, it's scarey.
Our strikers are almost vaccinated from scoring most of the time. All (!) we need to do is find a proper striker. Rest of the team is fine. We could either try to convince Beto that it's last season, or buy someone who is actually any good. Neither Barry nor Beto seems to be the answer. Until then, we'll be mid-table I agree.

Mid-table mediocrity writ large. On course for 13th and around 50 pts.
