I never really get why people are so against it, if you're worried about govt having all our data then surely they already have it, just spread around different databases.

On the surface, it strikes me as labour shooting themselves in the foot with something that no one asked for, that serves no real purpose.
Am I wrong, is it actually a great idea, or is it just another bit of pointless tit arsing about nonsense?
