On the global scale Starmer is having to balance things with a rise in right wing nutters across the globe - he cant just tell Trump to fuck off as some seem to want, its not how things work.
In the uk, we are still feeling the effects of leaving the EU, covid, and the ukraine war
The winter fuel allowance decision was a STUPID mistake
And the labour party have let themselves down with some minor infractions that make them look stupid on a personal level
They do need to do more on the 'boats' because its the main issue in peoples heads, due to the likes of the mail, skynews etc. Our personal views dont come into it, like it or not its an issue that needs perceived action.
Burnham is an interesting one, he's been out of it for a while so doesnt have association to problems. He might be one of the few adult in the room if he becomes an MP again.
He also doesnt carry the 'london elite' tag, and whilst not exactly the most charismatic man ever, he's more personable than Starmer, and could potentially win over voters in the north who are swaying reform.
Politics globally has changed massively.
We are in a slightly weird spot, the UK General Election was held before Trump got back in, and the next one will likely be after a new president is elected
Will that be JD Vance ? if so, the next GE is a harder win than if the Democrats get someone in.
