I'm ok, i don't mind the inclement weather. And i have a big waterproof coat But i only have to walk 15 minutes from the ferry terminal. there will be plenty of people walking for twice as long if not longer in British autumnal and winter weather

If it's cold, wear your big coat. (But it's very rare the big coat is properly justified)
