...illegal variants of it. They mind about all forms of migration. Dont think for a second that if the 'small boats issue' is dramatically dealt with that they'll be happy with that, because they wont be. And the populist politicians and their media who fan those flames wont either.
This country survives and thrives on migration. Always has and always will. We're a nation of immigrants. Caving in to the knuckle draggers who just want to turn the clock back makes no sense.
And the Labour Party leadership (I'll spare the majority of the PLP as most are not on board with their leadership on this ) are a bunch of opportunist shithouses who wont argue from conviction against the mob on migration. They'd rather cave in to them. But they're making a massive political error by trying to park their tanks on Reform and the Tory Party's lawn. They'll make themselves an unconvincing right wing party to the kind of people who they're attempting to keep hold of or gain.

too hung up on a phrase
But what about the actual issue
Its not far right to be looking at illegal immigration and thinking, actually this needs to be gotten under control
You dont like 'stop the boats' - fine - but all it is, is a phrase to encapsulate - Its time we address the increase in growing illegal unchecked immigration into the country.
Some of the left are far too concerned these days with not saying the wrong thing, as opposed to addressing the issues
This labour government is going to fall and be replaced either by Reform, or a right wing coalition, if it doesnt take positive action on this issue that is seen to have an effect, and it has 4 year to do so. NHS, Economy, Utility Bills - these all matter - but right now, like it or not, they arent the top issue on peoples minds, its illegal immigration, and its been growing as the number one issue across europe for more than 2 years -- now that might be people being hoodwinked by media or the right, but that doesnt matter.
It doesnt matter if you or I think its important or not, the majority do, and we are not changing their minds.

This government need to focus on getting their own house in order. They've just had to see off one free-loading fucker who's been avoiding tax while on a massive salary and telling striking bin men to get back to work and backing plans to immiserate tens of thousands of disabled people.
I'm looking forward to the new party on the left shaving a few more percentage points off them and helping to consign that government party - chocca with parachuted in riff riff - into the dustbin.

I know in this age of culture wars and division we are supposed to take the opposite view on everyting the oter side say, but I would have thought we all could agree, stopping people risking their lives, paying criminals to cram the into unsafe boats and sending them off across the chanel, is a good thing.

to his level in that regard. But as fo4vthe substance of the issue, they have to stop the boats and reduce overall immigration, we live in a democracy and an overwhelming majority want both of those things.

gave the best description of Nigel Farage ever. He's a snake oil salesmen who says it will cure anything but when he's asked for a bottle he says he doesn't have any yet but he can get you a bottle.
