In particular the extremist Christians.
Best case scenario is that the Republican party falls to pieces after Trump dies but it seems that they are aiming at some extreme gerrymandering. Texas is probably just the beginning.
And it will be interesting to see at lower levels if they pull of the same stunt they did in Miami where elections were pushed back for a year.
I'll copy this link here as well:

or if the elections were promising a massive majority, he would be able to cancel the elections (in one of a variety of underhand, deceitful ways) or just have them (because no-one cancels an election they're going to win handsomely).
But he has a tiny majority, and while it works to pass tax cuts for rich people and healthcare cuts for poor people, it's not enough for really substantial legislation. The fact that people like Greene are putting some distance between his interests and what they consider the movement's is a sign that his grasp on MAGA is not what it was, as, like all presidents from Adams to Obama, from Jackson to Biden, his political capital ebbs with time and accomplishments/disasters (depending on which side you're on). So his chances of wanting to put off the elections go up, but his chances of succeeding in doing so go down, which is what happened with his attempted putsch in January of 2021. Like almost everything else in his life where he tried to do something distinctive, it was an abject failure.
There are reasons to worry about the rise of the far right in the US, but a Trump presidency for life isn't a scenario to worry about too much imo. He's 79, morbidly obese and disinclined to exercise or eat well, showing significant signs of cognitive decline, has a 41% approval rating (Biden had 49% at the same stage, Obama 53, Bush Jr 56, Reagan 60), and a lot of his own fans think he's trying to hide evidence of his abuse of underage women in the Epstein case. His grasp of the constitution is limited. The Supreme Court is on his side - or at least on the side of a monarchical conception of the office of president. What the next president, Democrat or Republican, does with that vastly expanded, FDR-level of power, will be interesting, though probably not enough significantly to reverse the amazing decline in relative US power and influence and economic potential since the start of the century.

No-one answered but the usual suspects sure did let me know how stupid I am without actually telling why.
Which organization would stop him? Congress does what Trump wants. And a lot of the seats there are in danger anyways so it would be in their own best interest.
FBI? Military? DoJ? Trump has already replaced top officials with his own men. So who exactly would march to White House and stop that? Yeah, there would be rallies, Democrats would be very vocal but Trump would just send the troops wherever he wants. He has already had a few test runs in Los Angeles and Washington.
So I would really like to know how this would be stopped. Hell, the way SCOTUS has acted they might actually eventually decide that what ever Trump did was perfectly in line with the Constitution and therefore legal.

the Civil War, and the constitution doesn't give the president the power to postpone federal elections. He might be about to declare himself Führer but it's not at all obvious that he has the support to do so successfully.

Can we now change the ministry of defence to the ministry of attack? Sounds a bit more macho 👍
