Doesnt take many journeys to get to a high level and there are decent rewards (free journeys, discounts on other journey's, discount on food/drinks etc)

I've never been asked for proof of having a card when travelling on a ticket bought via one.

I think the trains see it more as a discount voucher than a rail card so aren't really that bothered in the same way they would be if you had bought a ticket via a railcard option.
