Luis: Burnley have agreed a fee but not yet with the player; it is affordable and we have been offered him more than once without moving; maybe now we do but maybe we just aren’t keen 🤷🏻♂️ We are struggling to find an option we like in a deal we can do.
Fort: wants to stay in Spain, has options; I still think AMN is ideal for us as he can cover either FB and midfield CM/RM which is very useful in a smallish squad but we might have to push to £15m+ rather than the £10m max I think we’d prefer.
Mainoo: don’t think Man U let him leave; Gallagher on loan might be more likely but I think Palace has the inside track with him.
Mitrovic: massive wages, bigger ego; I don’t see Moyes going there but he’d definitely give us a true target man option but he’d want to start regularly and that could stunt developing Barry; I still think Antonio or Vardy on a free after the deadline if we cannot loan someone.
Other: a CB who can play FB; City won’t let Ake leave but that type of profile, possibly on loan, if we can find one. Previous Message
Here’s some of the business I’d like us to do before it closes. This all based on the players we’ve been linked with over the summer and Moyes comments regarding what he would like to add to the squad.
I don’t expect us to sign all these, but I expect most of these, possibly all to be linked again before the window closes
Hector Fort. We need a right back. Highly rated and available on loan
Florentino Luis. The only DM I think we’ve been linked with recently. We’ve only got one 6 at the club so we need cover. Had a couple of outstanding seasons at Benfica. and a player we’ve been linked with for a while. My concerns with him are that he has had 2 moves abroad, France and Spain and they never worked out. There were reasons for that. But he wasn’t able to get regular first team football in either spell away from Benfica. For someone so highly rated how is he available for such a relatively low price. Benfica have reduced their asking price and signed Richard Rios has his replacement. Luis has only made 2 sub appearances in the league so far this season. But with regards to profile he seems just what we need. But what’s gone wrong for him at Benfica?
Kobbie Mainoo - would be cracking signing on loan. Especially if we go with a 6 and two 8’s in midfield.
Alexander Mitrovic - moyes has said he want a striker with a different profile to the ones we currently have. I don’t think means a smaller, tricky, pacey goal getter. I think he wants someone who can play with their back to goal and link play. Mitrovic would be perfect. Baffling why Newcastle aren’t trying to bring him back to St James park. He’d be great for them even if it was only for a couple of seasons.
Another winger - no idea who. But someone like George from Chelsea would be ideal, but looks like he could be on his way to Roma.
