I since got lucky and a mate transferred his seat for the game.
When I contacted the club to point out I never received the email of my unsuccessful ballot they replied along the lines of “oh well, we see you’ve got one now anyway”.
Similarly I never received the email I should’ve with the transferred tick BUT I have found the ticket in my membership app.
