(1) Max Cleworth at Wrexham. Just turned 23. Calm and classy central defender, and he has an eye for goal too. He was voted Wrexham's Young Player of the season in 2021-22, 2023-24 and 2024-25, was voted Wrexham's Player's Player of the Season last year. Also, he was in the EFL League One team of the season last year. It'll be interesting to see how he copes with Championship football after progressing really well from the National League and through Leagues Two and One.
(2) Kieron Doyle at Hibs. Turns 23 next month. Had a spell at Fulham a couple of years ago but didn't a first-team game, he just went out on a couple of spells on loan. I saw him come on mid-way through the second half as a sub for Hibs v Dundee in April and he completely changed the game. In less than half an hour he got two goals and an assist, and ran the Dundee defence ragged. Last season was wrecked for him by injury, and the Dundee game was one of his early games back. Last night, he gave the Partizan Belgrade defence problems all night and scored an incredible goal (see the BBC link below) that had a significant impact on the game.
Yes, they're doing what they're doing at a level lower than the Premier League, but they do seem to have a bright future.
