as decided its happy to let a guy who isnt a professional journalist break every story about a a premier league club? Im not saying it impossible, it would just surprise me.

This news didn't even come from the club. They were told by a player from another club. Because footballers all talk to each other.
It's like when they used to announce the team news 10-15 mins before the arbitrary pl deadline, when opposition managers had know the lineup for an hour or more. But fans get pissy about it being a leak. Just because plebs like us don't know something, doesn't mean everyone within the industry doesn't know it.
