The People's Forum: Is it possible, if you could get someone to agree to it, to ask

the holder of a seat you want to swap for the other seat you bought? Would the club allowm it? I suppose it's nothing to do with the club if the two parties go the game and just go to the other party's seat. I realise that's a long shot.

At Goodison the discounted tickets propped up demand for full price season tickets as the alternative was to try and get an obstructed view seat. There aren't obstructed views at the new ground so I think the club have to be careful

as you say, 15 years ago we were doing the cheap season tickets and half season ticket thing

but we changed our approach, we brought in LOADS of cheap season tickets for under 21s, under 16s and OAPS. We brought in being able to pay on the drip etc

All these things meant we started selling more and more season tickets and the ground was full every game (bar a few cry offs which happen everywhere). We have the highest number of under 16 season tickets in the league - it was around 6000 at Goodison iirc which is great because it would be easy to lose the next generation

It gives for better atmosphere and it increased revenue at the time

The main thing we miss out on compared to Liverpool etc isnt so much the beer and food in the ground (which is part of it granted) but its the club shop revenue from day trippers thats the real difference. Every home game they have fans spending £500+ in the club shop. Part of that is culture too, we shun fans wearing shirts and colours, they embrace it, every fat fuck from around the globe who goes there walks out with a skin tight red shirt on.

But I think there are other components to just match day revenue
Its guaranteed income, which helps and its a number we can use in discussion no doubt with various sponsors etc
If we expand the ground, and I think we will within a decade, I doubt we'll add many season tickets (I think Liverpool added 1000 at most with their extension on anfield road)

We want money and revenue, but do we want to be dominated by daytrippers, I doubt it it. And likewise to be blunt, we just arent attractive to 1000s of people from around the world showing up. Least not yet. So fewer season tickets would just mean more local walk up, who arent likely to spend in the club shop anyway.
