Most teams outside some (not all) of the rich6 are restricted this summer and most of the big spenders already have a bunch of young players so it may simply be market dynamics. This goes beyond PL as many big clubs in Spain, Italy, Germany are all to varying degrees having to manage their financial positions.

If the player is happy to stay and Saints can afford to turn us down then you could see why they would, gambling on promotion or a more favourable sellers market next summer. If not then maybe things change later in the window or sooner if we start getting linked with a credible alternative.

I’m just a fan so I have no inside insight how highly Moyes and others rate him but the rejected bids strongly suggest they have a high opinion of him.
