No idea how that got decided upon, but it won’t download the ticket to the Google wallet - from the email it seems to indicate the ticket should appear in the app, customer services on social seem to have backed this up and said it’ll appear a few days before the game in the app so we’ll see I guess. My cousin tried to add his Roma ticket to google wallet today but his device doesn't have NFC. Is that him snookered or is there a possibility the club can sort this without advising him to get another phone!

...I've just been emailed the link to download my season ticket digitally and I know that a lot of people have been asking about the non-digital alternatives... there is some text in the email with a link:
And this is what the link takes you to:
" Application for Physical Season Ticket – Season 2025/26
This application form is intended for supporters who face genuine barriers to using digital season tickets. All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If approved, a non-transferable physical Season Ticket will be issued."
So it looks like you will need to explain why you can't use a digital ticket and it will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Hope that clears it up for some people (and as an aside, also note the illuminated HD signage in the image in the background)
