In early noughties on Islay, I also tasted some local malts from the late sixties and the early 70’s, and thought that ”you’re leading a decent life when your whisky is older than your woman”, which was true at that time. But the older I get, and still enjoying my morning coffee with the same missus, my life has obviously turned into, well, less decent. Luckily there are still pretty good single malts available for nearly affordable prices. 😄 Previous Message

I remember how I bought a bottle of 17 years old Ardbeg for £29.75 from the Port Ellen Spar on my first trip to Islay in 2001. It must be over 20 years since that 17 years old was even available. If there’s a bottle out there somewhere, it must cost a four or five figure amount of £s.
A friend of mine has a saying ”life is too short to waste it drinking bad whiskies”. I’d love to follow that principle, but it’s getting pretty expensive. Previous Message
