Geldof was awful. He gave the Boomtown Rats a long set and they were irrelevant as a band. He had the gall to stop the music for about a minute after the line “And the lesson today is how to die” and put his fist in the air and milk it. Knob. Taylor Parkes destroyed him on the Chart Music Podcast - worth a listen.
But the music was generally good, sound system poor. Some bands sounded much better live than on TV and vice versa.
Highlights for me were Elton John, Bowie and Bryan Ferry. And of course Queen, who I didn’t like much beforehand. Best frontman I’ve ever seen. I enjoyed Spandau Ballet also, although they were one of the bands who sounded poor on TV when I watched it back.

Sting actually had the fucking cheek to play songs off his new album!
