I used this this week with a client who consistently sets targets he can't achieve and then beats himself for not achieving them. Football fans could probably benefit from applying the same concept. Positive pressure is good. Booing every mistake, less so. Previous Message
About how pressure affects performance. There was no pressure on her in the semi as Sabalenka was overwhelming favourite. She thrived as Wimbledon swung behind the underdog. Suddenly in the final with a grand slam victory truly possible it all closed in on her. She needed a good start to reinforce confidence. She did not get it. The bad start only got worse with every new point played as the initially remote possibility of a whitewash turned into a probability and ultimately a grim reality. Horrible for her but hopefully she has good people around her who can help her focus on the many, many positives from the tournament and use the final huge negative as fuel to improve. she absolutely froze, throwing points away with double faults etc
Considering she'd beaten Sabalenka that was pretty embarrassing today
Currently resting...
