Luiz is definitely a good player but the price/age combination is just not right for us. Somebody like Rohl or Frendrup would fit better as a likely day one starter with Frendrup in particular having projectable traits as a longer term DM.
It is hard to spend big this window within our limited spend envelope on a player who will be rotationally initially with Gana because Garner is the weaker current link.

But in year one of a rebuild it is my view that we should only be paying significant fees (£20m+) for 25 and under players with resale value. No problem with players in the 26-29 range on lower fees or loan. 30+ should be frees only. Previous Message
