they reflexively blame someone or something else. Trump and his PR minions don't even have to bother thinking of excuses any more.

They'll bang on endlessly about free speech, whilst praising Trump's authoritarian moves to suppress it.

They wanged on about the price of eggs and fuel under Biden, when prices get much higher under Trump then suddenly it doesn't matter anymore.

They laud the Tango Totalitarian as a bulwark against the establishment and someone who will stand up for the common man and woman in the street, then meekly accept him handing enormous (even by today's standards) tax breaks to billionaires and the corporate world whilst taking away their healthcare.

There's this narrative that they have to be listened to and their views respected in order to bring about positive change but when you are dealing with people displaying this scale of stupidity and wilful ignorance it is pointless. They are immune to reason, logic and evidence.

Not all Trump voters, but what seems to be a terrifying proportion of them. The only way the spell breaks is when he dies. Now he's shown the way though, I am sure there are even nastier, even more dangerous hatemongering grifters waiting in the wings. And they are likely to be more organised and intelligent than Dumbass Donnie just by the law of averages.
