topboy is very good too
and somertown I think the prequel. again enjoyed it. Both had a reality to themI wasnt ready for. Many moons ago I used to live in Leyton E10. One of my friends was a music producer who was involved in early 'drill'- the leyton gang were called the beaumont managers (green gang)- got on fine with them.
One of the nicer lads Simeon Smith/Smyth stabbed a former schoolmate to death in a chicken shop due to him being from the wrong 'ends'. So top boy was very like that. they also shot a lot of it at ridley road market in hackney.
the most brutal thing I saw was a 12 year old kid approach me and tell me he didnt need to go the gym like i did as big muscles dont beat his trigger finger. He showed us his glock and laughed before riding off on his bike.
my two kids have been in london 5 years and a week- i worry constantly about them but luckily my ex wife is an ultra strict woman form the congo so she wont let them out of her sight. but its still a worry. Previous Message
in Season One is one of the all-time great sequences
MobLand isn’t great but it’s not too bad. Somewhere between Gangs of London season one and season two in quality.
I’m currently watching Smoke (stunningly good) and Your Friends and Neighbors (quite fun). Previous Message
