The Men’s team has relinquished the charges it holds over the shares in the company that owns Goodison and the separate company that owns the women’s team. This enables the sale of the shares in these companies to the new holding company set up for the women’s football operation. That sale may already have happened but the changes in ownership had not yet been published on the Companies House website as of yesterday.

It will be interesting to see what the terms of any sale are and how they will impact PSR next summer (as the transactions seem to be after 1 July). We are following the path of Chelsea and Villa. It also shows how keeping Goodison for the women can be of financial benefit to the men which is at least as much of the rationale as is the genuine desire to grow our women’s team competitively and commercially.
