Stevens was very very solid defensively and could get up the pitch and cross a ball. Seamus is very similar.
What the decisive matter here is who was playing front of them. Stevens supporting T.Steven was a world class combination. Seamus never really had the luxury of having a Steven in front of him.
What Stevens doesn’t have as much as Coleman has is the absolute leadership qualities and the application of emotional intelligence.
Much like Baines having Piennar in front of him while Andy Hinchcliffe had Beagrie (doesn’t mean it makes Baines any less a success, but it helped). Previous Message
Would you rate him above Gary Stevens? Leighton Baines obviously wasn’t bad either (although I never saw him play for us). Previous Message
I appreciate managers want him around for his character and I appreciate it was against an already relegated Southampton but in Seamus’ camio last game I thought he looked great. The best full back we’ve had since erm… Seamus Previous Message
Great to see that we have the most exciting young CH in the country signing a new 5 year deal. His reasons are good to hear, the manager, the fans, the owners, the new stadium, as well as wanting to get in the Engksnd squad - all good news for us.
Alcaraz in the bag at a steal. With a full summer training period behind him we will hopefully see more attacking and more goals from him.
We have England's goalkeeper, a legend already, and someone very happy here.
Seamus on board as back up but mote importantly, the ambassador for our great club. His influence is immeasurable.
Hopefully Barry and one more CF arrive as well as a quality right winger with pace.
Gana can't be far away from extending.
It's July and we should start to see more additions and I fully trust Moyes to slowly build a very competitive team. He has been at the world club championships so hopefully assessing some players.
I don't want to see or encourage any negativity.
It's time for optimism.
