If people get too aggressive Trump can declare martial law. And who would stop him from doing that?

Nixon was stopped because government still had people who believed in the rule of law. First thing Trump did in January was to make sure that won't happen by installing loyalists in DoJ, FBI, CIA etc. There is no-one in power anymore who is not loyal to him.
