No chance. I think a 16 team club World Cup could have worked

Still get the chance for teams to competitively play those around the world (Europeans vs South Americans are especially appealing) without it being such a huge commitment of time.

However I wouldn’t sacrifice a tiny bit of the English football calendar to help them get there! (Cup replays, league cup, 18 team league, etc)

Unfortunately now they’ve started at 32 and are talking about 48 they’d never go back for fear of looking like they’ve regressed.
