My own opinion is purely based on his impact on the football field, and as much as you can (rightly) say that a lot of fans have checked out on him, for me he's been playing as though he has checked out on Everton for quite a while now.
Whether it's the fear factor after his injuries, or deliberately trying to not get injured so as to not jeopardise any move, other than a few glimpses, for me he looks like he's been playing within himself rather than busting a gut to close down or get on the end of anything - and I think it stands out even more when there is such a stark contrast with Beto who mostly plays as though he's won a competition and runs around chasing every ball for every minute he's on the pitch - I haven't seen that from DCL for a long time sadly.
If he stays then obviously I will support him - and obviously signing a decent replacement striker is going to be really difficult - but as time has gone on, I've felt increasingly that a parting of the ways is probably the best scenario for all concerned, and that looks to to be the most likely outcome as it stands. I'll wish him well if it is (depending on who he signs for of course! )

the majority on here - yes the majority - wrote him off after just 5 or 6 games, I remember it well.
He was never taken to in the way Duncan was - Advert or photoshoot appears whilst he's injured ! FUMING LAD !
etc
I'd keep him, but not on silly money
his fitness and sharpness hasnt been there, although his presence made a difference at times even when he hasnt scored
I think he's good, certainly good enough for us at the moment. But most of our fans have long since checked out on him, some because he's missed chances, some because he did photoshoots, some because he didnt play on with a fractured cheekbone - BOOOOO !
We loved duncan and forgave him his injuries and sendings off, even if they sometimes conveniently landed around xmas or in time for the races. DCL just never had that really, and the past couple of seasons have seen him get a lot of toxic abuse too.
Do I think he's worth 150k pw or whatever
Nope
But he has been an important player for us over the past decade.
Lets hope Beto's form under Moyes continues and doesnt turn into Jelavic second season syndrome next season.
