one thing I've noticed is there seems to be a much younger demographic associated with Everton. I think we're seeing the impact of local fans being priced out of going to their games
i'm sure loads of kids across liverpool have shirts and went to the parade, and because they're doing well they're holding their own in the battle for glory hunters who might otherwise support Chelsea, Man City, etc
but in terms of long term roots we need to strike the balance between getting a strong basis of local fans going to the match vs leveraging the commercial opportunities of the new stadium. Notice how when you have the odd American fly in for a Beatles tour and Everton game they tend to be welcomed at Goodison and it's all seen as a nice experience. Yet at Anfield they're the reason multi generation youths have stopped going.
Hopefully a bigger capacity means we can get more of one without detracting the other. it'll be a balancing act but we shouldn't feel inferior and assume that their model of "global" audience is something to aspire to. When the whole stadium is simply filming each other it becomes a joke.
they might be more visible and certainly have more numbers. but Moyes was right!

First time really back in 30 years - I've been back many times, last time for the game a few months back, but this time did the full tourist thing and really went around town and the city centre and really spent time looking around rather than just going to the game or going to my mums house etc..
I know it was the parade on Monday, we arrived on Tuesday, but is it really so much in favour of LFC rather than EFC now across the city? The LFC store was rammed on Wednesday and the EFC store in Liverpool one was basically empty and small in comparison. We had 6 taxi drivers over a few days, they all supported LFC, made jokes about Everton being based in Wales etc. Hardly saw anyone in an EFC top, no flags flying etc. Honestly, it seemed like a one club city. Loads of houses decked out in flags on Queens Drive (etc) but probably due to the bus.
I don't remember it being like that when I was a teenager but looking it up on google it seems the best estimate it 2/3 of everyone in Liverpool who support a club support Liverpool. Was it always like this, has it changed due to success or immigration or whatever? Like, is it only 33% of people in Liverpool now support Everton?
Loved the visit, what they have done around the docs is something else, what a city! Amazing place. Titanic hotel was really good, the rooms were genuinely awesome and massive. Shout out to the quirky corner near chinatown, well worth an hour!
Cheers
