I’ll be mightily pissed off if we don’t sign him though! Ok if he finds someone else young and hungry and talented but not some semi-ageing WHU reject instead.

I think also he’d expend a bit of unnecessary fan goodwill in the process too. There are plenty of fans ready to jump on Moyes at the first sign of him being overly cautious/dour (myself included to be fair!)
