Wars in the region of Palestine have been going on for over 2000 years

Back in the 2nd century BC - most of Palestine was conquered by the Jewish Hasmonean King. There have been periods of peace but long periods of battles too, often interrupted by a third party such as the Romans, Mongols, Turks, Crusaders. Its probably seen more wars than any other area of land in the last 2000+ years. Its been fought over repeatedly, often in the name of religion.

It is considerably deeper than the UN resolution of 1948 due to the ingrained significance of the area.

There is a really good book by Dan Jones, called Powers and Thrones, History of the Middle Ages which has sections on the politics, invasions, and infighting in the area.


I do think Netanyahu is an absolute cunt, and I agree Hamas played right into his hands, and what has been done has been abhorrent.
But I don't believe there is a workable long term solution on the horizon.
