I think that edges out Coventry 1998 as that was pure relief rather than joy, those last few minutes after Barmby missed the pen and Dublin scored at the other end just went on for ever. It was like The Alamo, desperately hoofing the ball clear only for it to come straight back into the danger area. Horrible! Previous Message
Just because it's all flooding back, and what better place to share it than here.
Unsworth bundling one in from close range in a 1-1 draw against Arsenal in '94, my first game at Goodison. 31 years later, my last game at Goodison would be another 1-1 draw against Arsenal (and, as it turns out, the last goal scored at the Gwladys Street).
Campbell and Jeffers running riot against Charlton during Super Kev's loan spell to keep us up. We won 4-1 but maybe the standout moment was Graham Stuart scoring Charlton's consolation. Diamond is also responsible for another of my favourite Goodison memories: using the urinal directly after him in a crowded loo. Some might say a dubious honour, but an honour nevertheless.
Duncan coming off the bench to score the first two goals of his second spell, in a 3-0 win against Charlton. Gazza made his first start for us, and Carl Tiler was sent off for them.
A smattering of high points from the Moyes mk I era: Ferguson vs Man Utd, Gosling vs Liverpool, Andy Johnson vs Liverpool, Johnson vs Arsenal, Arteta vs Fiorentina, Cahill vs Newcastle to secure top 4, Yakubu's perfect hat-trick vs Fulham.
Coleman's wonder goal against Southampton in that first Martinez season - it felt like Seamus was capable of anything at that time, he scored another screamer at Swansea around the same time.
Made up that Moyes is the man in charge at the end of it all. Felt pretty choked up watching him speak on the pitch yesterday, and loving seeing Baines on the touchline too.
He'll be sacked by November but we'll claw our way to 15th under Mourinho.
So, this happened. But it is what it is, until it isn't.
