If that means giving Young and/or Coleman 1 year extensions on sensible wages to give us cover then I'm fine with it.
We can't really just let everyone go who we think isn't good enough and then hope for the best in signing a new squad. Apart from the element of gambling that would involve, too much turnover could cause its own strife - for all Forest have had a great season this time around, they came close to being relegated trying to gel a new team together.
I'm less amenable to giving players like Doucoure a few years because I think they may then block us from picking/signing more progressive footballer-types like Alcaraz - I'm not sure I fully trust Moyes not to revert to type as soon as we play against a stronger team - but Young/Coleman as cover is entirely sensible IMHO. If they give young a contract ot will send out all the wrong signals.surely there is a full back.in Europe who can cover this position and is nearly pensionable age. Even coufal for 12 months would be a better option Previous Message
...and there might even be some announcements before Sunday's game. Moyes wouldn't be drawn on whether Seamus would lead out the team or not, but did say he will definitely still be here next season "as part of the group" and "in one way or another".
He also praised Ashley Young's fitness and versatility (in response to a drect question) which leans towards the reported one year extension offer, and said that - in general - with so many loaned players going back to their clubs and so many out of contract he doesn't think that they will be able to get everything solved in this one transfer window.
