I LOATHE souls games, just boss fights after boss fights and no adventure and it's very boring and mega frustrating for no reason. So I don't play Souls games as life is too short not to play what you want to play. Why care? Well if all the big titles were souls, we would be screwed. Luckily they are not. And people that really like Souls games look for different things in games and that thing is.. not much. It reminds me of my nephews: "you like old man games, with talking, and stories, those games suck!!" They don't ever read books and they are about 14/16 in age. Different lives. They just want to shoot stuff over and over and not have any story. Think I had read about 300 books by the time I was 12. It's just different.

Anyways for this game, it has boss fights and you will need to win them to pass to the next part of the adventure but it's far more like a FF game, Japanese RPG (as people have said this game is like) with some other nods to classic games.

I am only about 6 hours in, it took me 2 weeks to get past the opening stage on the island as I don't get to play too much but once you get to the island you might get a bit frustrated but you have to see it as a tutorial stage and you will have to beat Eveque, the first big boss. I didn't realise you had to beat him so spent the weeks running around and every time you rest to get some health potions, the mobs respawn.. and then you have to fight them again and then use your potions, so you have to rest again and then.. you have to go and kill those mobs again. You have to get good really and understand the mechanics. The dodge/parry can be very frustrating but you like it in the end and it's quite addictive the combat.

Presentation and story are fantastic, as is the music. I was quite surprised by all this, it sounded like a 7/10 game but it's really a 9.5/10! Not perfect but no game is (apart from half life 2 and portal 2).

And it's cheaper than a so-called AAA game!

Will be GOTY, easily.

I would love to play Kingdom Come 2 but only several hours into the first so will not allow it.
