Essentially that’s highlighting how analysis of pure stats only is irrelevant then? Previous Message
interesting stats here, showing how reliant we've been on players over the age of 30 we've been.
40% of playing time, with the next highest (Man City) on 37%, then Newcastle 33% and Liverpool 32%. So it's not as if playing lots of players over 30 is bad per se.
In fact, we're bottom 3 for under 21s (but so are Forest and Fulham, and they've both had good seasons).
What I find interesting is that we're 9th for the 22-25 category but 19th for 26-29.
This seems quite a disjointed profile. We don't really trust youth, but we have a lot of players in the early stages of their career and few in their prime. In theory, you would like to hope, those 22-25 players will develop, improve, and progress into the 26-29 category.
But suggests our recruitment needs to not only bring down the average age but also find a better balance between youth and experience.
