Sometimes I think some people are just happy with a hardworking team pinging in tons of semi-aimless cross and making a decent fist of it vs the big boys but settling for a hard-earned draw or gallant defeat.
Last time we won at Anfield we went 1-0 up after a moment of real quality from the lazy son-of-a-bitch James Rodríguez taking the ball under control and passing it one elegant movement through to Richie to slot.
We need quality. Spurn the likes of Alcaraz in favour of Doucoure and we'll get nowhere.
As Col said on here the other day, lets see footballers not just athletes! Previous Message
He puts in a shift and can play across a number of positions.
"Not a Moyes-type player" is getting an airing again I see. Not sure where that comes from? He barely played anyone over six-foot in midfield during his time with us, Fellaini the exception that proved the rule.
Most of his major signings after us were the likes of Mata, Paqueta, Kudus, Alvarez, Vlasic. You could argue he's not spent wisely, but none of them are cloggers.
Alcaraz seems exactly like the kind of player Moyes MkI would have taken a punt on for us. Previous Message
.....in the last couple weeks I have picked up the same kind of noise on X regarding Moyes that became endemic regarding Dyche.
It hasn't taken long for the most hardcore of moaners to decide he's dour, negative, unambitious etc.
And in fairness the results are now even-ing out after a great start. Many did point out at the time that Moyes probably wouldn't approach things so much differently to Dyche with this squad.
Personally I think we've improved, but then last season we also did so in autumn under Dyche after we got the points deduction. We'll likely end up with slightly less ( earned ) points this season than last and a lower XG, XGA and XPts.
Don't get me wrong, it was time for Dyche to move on and Moyes is probably what we need to stabilise.
But he is going to come under pressure quickly if we don't improve next season. And rightly or wrongly, ditching a fans favourite in Alcaraz would not help his cause one bit, should he do so.
