Tried Balatro, but by about round ten I found it' unwinnable, no matter what jokers I had accrued.
Into The Dead - Our Darkest Days
Very similiar to This War Of Mine, a resource management game that was all over tablets a few years back. But this time it's in 80s Texas and with zombies. Pretty short, but wonderful game-loop and right in my interests. Highly recommended, for about twelve quid in Early Access.
Stirring Abyss
Turn-based tactics thing, based on a sub with Lovecraftian themes. Very nice atmospheric indie, a bit different from the norm.
Max Payne 3
Loved the first two, but wasn't gaming much when this came out. Big mistake, it's superb, bullet-time carnage with a hilariously high body count.
Undying
Resource management in a Japanese comic aesthetic. You play as a mum who has been bitten by a zombie, who needs to protect and educate her kid ASAP. Lovely little game. Previous Message
Following on from the xbox game passs thread the other week. I think there was a couple of posts where it was mentioned that some people were looking for slower paced games.
If so, Balatro and Monster Train. They're two very different card/deck builder games.
Balatro is essentially poke with a twist, where you have to beat certain scores to progress. But you can buy things (game currency, not real cash) that will help you along the way. This game was actually named as game of the year last year by several critics.
Started playing Monster Train a few weeks ago, it's very addictive. Can take a few runs to get the hang of it, but once you do it becomes one of those just one more run games. You essentially start each game with a choice of two clans (1 is your champion the other is your support) and you have to battle different enemies across several stages. You use cards to attack, heal, buff or nerf etc. Can get very tactical. One wrong move and what looked like everything was going perfectly can turn to pure shit very quickly.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time, it works every time.
