At 59 I've been on them for 5 months. I'm not over wight as such. I play football once a week (8-a-side with lots of running). Go to the gym 2 to 3 times a week play golf twice a week. My overall cholesterol level was 7.5 now down to 4. I'd say that if I'm going out for a boozy night I won't take that evening's tablet. I was also recommended to start CoQ10 as a supplement to counter potential downsides. Previous Message
I’m 66.
I had a general blood test recently and I’ve had a message to contact my GP to discuss statins, so I’m assuming my cholesterol is high. My missus controls our diet and we eat very healthy so she’s latched on to me liking a drink (I’m not an alchy but I do drink wine a lot) and having real butter on my toast.
I’ve heard lots of scare stories re statins. Is there any substance in that? If so should I take the healthy option? Or can I take statins and happily get pissed every weekend?
