There's definitely going to be a decent spend, given the squad pruning over the last few years. There's no chance we're paying the wages Cunha et al want, but daresay there's a decent chance that we'll be spending a fair few transfer fees, given the number of players we need in, albeit in the 15mil-ish environs. I'm not advocating spending for spending's sake. I just want us to buy the right players regardless of cost. But surely there's a bit more powder in our keg now And given how transfer spend is spread across contract length, could we say just for example sign Cunha for £60 million, Delap for £40 million and Mbeumo for £50 million on 5 year contracts, and only book £30 million as expenditure on player recruitment for 2025? |
