This year so far I have played AC: Shadows (not far with this one yet), DA: Veilguard, Last of Us II and Alan Wake 2's second DLC (Lake House). Last year games like GoW: Ragnarök, Dead Island 2, Firewatch, all were really easy to get into as well.
Things were different back in the day. You often didn't have any kind of tutorial and games didn't explain things.
Unless you like to play From Software's games or some more complex game types like simulators I really don't understand what you mean. Previous Message
The problem I typically have is that the learning curve on most games takes me most of the evening, meaning that I accomplish very little and come away feeling short changed. Especially when I only usually have e.g. one spare night a week. It makes it feel like a chore.
Whoever can crack the nut of making games for 40 somethings who are time deficient, with a learning curve that doesn’t feel like it’s going to require me sinking hours in just to master basic gameplay, will get my money.
Superhot, on the Quest 2, was the last time I remember picking something up and being able to jump straight into it while having the requisite level of upskilling so that it didn’t quickly become too easy.

of not being able to get into anything for a few months and then spending every hour I can playing things.
I'm old now
Time is more limited so I want the games I play to be worthwhile
I think there is an entire market to be tapped - old man games - and when someone does that, and cracks it they'll make a fortune from the first gen of gamers who are old and still playing
