As I read it, because he didn’t do anything while in an offside position., ie he didn’t attempt to play the ball, pretend to, impede Tarkowski, he essentially did nothing at all then the rules don’t penalise him.
It lists a whole bunch of actions he might have taken that would make him active and thus penalised but I can’t find one that accommodates “stood there doing nothing”….even though we all know that his mere presence was what caused Tarkowski to intercept the ball.
To me the rules should say he’s offside, it “feels” offside and wrong when you watch it - here’s a player who moments ago was offside, who has influenced Tarkowski to intercept/play the ball becoming immediately involved with an assist. But as I read it the rules don’t cater for this situation, therefore he’s onside. Previous Message
